The New Moon
January 18, 2006
I am seeing much more of the moon lately. Funny how a move of a few degrees of longitude and latitude can change your views of things. I wish I could paint, I can’t, I’ve tried. There is a blog called The Shape of Daily Life – it’s in my links section – and the author has included in her blog a superb painting of the moon – her moon. It is worth a look. His Holiness has recently discovered the moon, so as with many things that he is finding for the first time, I am rediscovering the moon with him as my guide. This morning the first thing I did was search out the best window for gazing at the moon. It has shifted around a bit in the last few days. When he wakes in a few minutes, he too will walk to the window and look for the moon and if he wakes after sunrise and asks me where it’s gone, I will do my best to explain in words that he will accept, if not fully understand.
