Karneval in Koln

Karneval began yesterday morning at 11:11AM and His Holiness and I were in the street to see it. We have decided to stick it out here Koln as opposed to retreating to the Eifel, which was our initial plan. So for now we are dressing up and taking it all in.

More to follow in a few days …

What do you mean 'stick it out'? If you've never seen Carnival before then I'd think you'd want to see it.

I will be interested to hear about your impressions and HH looks amused to be a frog :)

It's not easy being green. :-)

My kids used to love to go to the Karnevalsumzug in Hannover with their Oma. Much smaller scale than in Cologne, but still very exciting.

J ... The fact is, I'm just not a huge fan of herds of drunk folks, never have been. Not that I don't enjoy the grape, I do, but crowds aren't my thing and drunk crowds even less so. I stayed inside during the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Manhattan each year, except one, and the same thing with the Haloween Parade in the Village. I don't go to huge concerts or big clubs ... but I do think it's important to see at least one Karneval from beginning to end ... so here we are.
