January 1, 2007
The New Year has arrived and I am fighting the urge to begin this entry with a list of regrets and instead will use this occasion to express hope, determination and faith.
I hope I can lose the extra fifteen pounds I’ve accumulated in the three years since HH was born and I pretty much stopped doing many of the beneficial things I used to do like eat right, exercise regularly and write each and every morning.
I am determined to maintain a creative and positive outlook and to approach each day as an opportunity to create something worthwhile and to make someone happy.
And I have faith, faith that I have the self-discipline to execute this plan successfully and that if I do I will be rewarded with a better self-image, a more rewarding experience of life and another chance to fit into the jeans I keep hidden away under the sweaters in the back of my bottom drawer.

15 pounds - you and me both! I admire your determination and faith in yourself, and hope your goals will be met quickly.
Happy New Year.
Happy New Year Richard.
Don't worry about your waistline so much, Richard. You are a truely beautiful person, which comes through in your writing. Buy yourself some new jeans and toss the old ones in the Salvation Army bin.
Happy 2007!
Cathy
happy new year richard! x
Happy New Year, Richard! I think many of us, and many expats, it seems (the dreaded ExpatFat!) are struggling with these issues as we get older. I like your outlook for the new year and I can see you succeeding at anything you put your mind to. Sometimes having children makes us forget how important "me" time can be.
I'm right there with you with the "since I've been a full-time parent" pounds. Or the Expat Fat, whichever. Probably a combination of both. Kaffee and Kuchen has its downside I guess.
Happy New Year

Happy New Year
Jul ... It's only the 4th of January and I just finished a chocolate!
Wenda ... Peace your way ....
Cathy ... Thanks for the vote of confidence but - believe me - I need to shed a few kilos!

Claire ... Thanks and same to you! I hope to see you in 2007 ...
Christina ... Expat fat indeed! You're a hoot!
Swissmiss ... K&K have already been the death of me - that and the bread and the wurst and the beer and keeping up with the never ending pasta dinners that HH demands!
That said ... It's all good!
Happy New Year to you and yours! Wonderful goals for the new year. (LOL, I've got some of those hidden jeans, too.)
Ironically this year I made no New Years resolution... last year tested my resolve to the max so I thought what the heck, lets start the year gorging on Swiss chocolate (and that is as much indulgement as I did as I am a vegan, dont smoke and rarely ever drink)...
I think we'd all like to shed a few post-holiday pounds in the new year. Hope your new year is wonderful, filled with adventure and possibility!
P.S. I had somehow lost your link and will now add you to my blogroll.
a lovely post for the new year
